IGV-1

This modern building with an interesting formal and technological resolution was originally meant for the exhibition and selling of Jaguar cars. It was designed with a pre-compressed concrete calculated by the engineers Otaola and Benedetti. The architects implanted a «patella» with different geometries in a cornered lot: a glass cylinder with a concrete dome and a clay-brick prims with openwork textures, which translates into a nonconventional piece for the exhibition of cars, raising a great interest in its time. Its circular ground body possesses a structure of central support and inclined sur-rounding columns that provide a free exhibition space. The thirty meter diameter and seven centimeter thickness dome was reinforced in its borders with pre-compressed traction rings. The vertical brick prism contains the hoist, and in it the company’s brand was identified. The exhibition cylinder is raised form the ground and its crystal enclosing, fixed to the inclined surrounding columns, to improve the view from outside and avoid reflections. Standing out is a Carlos González Bogen (1920-1992) mural that complements the building. Anglo-Ven has been used by several automobile dealerships over the years, without
losing, however, the unique qualities that made it a memorable work piece.
