The neighborhood Las Mercedes was developed between the forties and the fifties, marked by quintas and Basque-style buildings, to which would be added experiences closer to the modern language. Combining this modern style with a Basque name is the building Amayur, word which translated means «the end». The street in which the (three-story, six apartments, six parking spots and basement) building is located is sadly famous for being the place in which the assassination of Carlos Delgado Chalbaud took place in 1950. Amayur adapts to the topography and geometry of a lot of little urban front with a symmetrical scheme that uses one of the side retreats as its main façade. Therefore, it does not offer the «La Cinta» street any attractions past a block preceded by a garden, which reveals, surprisingly, its access to the transients. Its features remark a similarity between it and a couple of other Basque-name buildings in Colinas de Bello Monte (Mendi Eder and Ereaga). The facades with brick tiles, flanges of windows and balconies painted in white, the use of the block of glass to illuminate and accuse the vertical circulation, and the overhand in the entrance porch, are signs of the proper handling of a not necessarily canoni-cal rationalism code. The work evidences the passing of the years, but thanks to the use of noble materials and vegetation, it maintains itself, discretely, in contact with the street.
