With a strategic and privileged location in the city, on a hill overlooking the entire valley of Caracas, and located in an area that is currently surrounded by barrio communities that developed in the seventies, the house was the result of the collaboration between Florentines Athos Albertoni and Guido Guazzo, considering the premises of the Borges Villegas family. Guazzo presented to the Pérez Jiménez representative at the time, a model of a great residential realm, based on Albertoni’s design. The horizontal Wright-influenced work, with large overhangs of awnings, roofs and terraces, was conceived as a modern palace with 6000 m2 of construction on more than two hectares of land. Oriented in the east-west direction, the three-story house, with multiple rooms and spaces of large proportions, has a pool, water fountains and Italian ceramic sculptures. It has a large living room open to the west overlooking the city, a music room, chimney, observatory, helipad and even a secret passage leading to a safety bunker with a concealed exit to the outside. Inside there are Italian works of art that are part of the architecture. The palace, together with El Cerrito and Alto Claro House, form a triad of magnificent and unique modern villas in the city. The house, acquired and restored by the Metropolitan Mayor’s Office in 2009, currently houses the Simón Díaz Center for Education, Culture and Art.
