Plaza Brión is the transitional pedestrian space between Sabana Grande Boulevard and Avenida Francisco de Miranda. It emerged with the construction of Line 1 of the Caracas Metro and the conversion of the pedestrian level into a boulevard that in this segment widens to about 40 x 280 m in the west-east direction and reaches the size of a square, reinforced by shopping centers (Chacaíto, Expreso Chacaíto, Único) which border it, together with mixed-use buildings. Near Chacaíto Shopping Center is the large sculpture Cubo Virtual by Jesús Soto (1923-2005), with mobile rods that hang from a metal cross-shaped structure over the subway’s pedestrian exit to the surface. The plaza has trees, street furniture, life-sized chess games on the pavement and the sculpture of José Marti, which borders with the main avenue of the Country Club and gives way to Avenida Francisco de Miranda. The plaza is very active with the flow of pedestrians that go through it and use it as an intermodal station.
