Caricuao Boulevard puts the «modern city» model to the test, with separate uses, freestanding buildings and differentiated circulation. It begins at the meeting point between Francisco Fajardo highway and Avenida Principal of Caricuao, where the artificial stone statue «Conjuro Caricuao» (Alejandro Colina, 1967-1968) stands out. The elevated section of Line 2 of the Metro (1983), with «V» shaped supports, produced a paved and shaded trace, which allowed a pedestrian boulevard under the train tracks, next to the river. The boulevard is developed along the metro stations Ruiz Pineda, Caricuao and Zoológico. Caricuao urban is centered around the boulevard and Plaza Bolívar, with kiosks, itinerant markets, intermodal stations and shops on the ground floors of the buildings. The Plaza Bolívar of Caricuao, near Zoológico station, is a traffic return elliptical island with the national hero’s bust, facing the boulevard, where, despite its isolation, the community gets together for different activities.
