The Former Museum is a horizontal parallelepiped, a long rationalistic box suspended on piles, which left the entire ground floor free (now occupied), creating shade and permitting foot traffic, as well as a visual opening towards the green wooded park below. Its façades feature a duality, while opening towards the park with large windows, towards the plaza its blind walls exhibit two colorful abstract murals, the first Untitled (1951) by Armando Barrios (1920-1999) and the second Dynamic composition-static composition (1954) by Oswaldo Vigas (1924). The volume, placed at an angle, is carefully articulated to the Rectorate building by a concrete arch suspended on four «V» shaped columns. This arch also marks the access to the park area. The building, which has undergone major alterations in its use, formal conception and spirit, had a marquee (demolished) at one end that rested on a single support and closed the composition of the group.
