This area, which appears on the campus plans as a «park», is a superposition of walkways with free, jagged and diagonal layouts on a green area, articulating the covered pedestrian network with the former student residences. The idea of incorporating the residences into the campus for «university life» to last 24 hours a day, and this green area was conceived as a large park separating the former living quarters from the academic and administrative buildings. The area, planted with trees such as apamates, caujaros, royal palms and grass, has multiple perspectives responding to the formal freedom of its walkway layouts, typical of the fifties, with free geometry and warped shapes, similar to those used in landscaping by the Brazilian Burle Marx, reaffirming modern landscaping ideas. The place, which connects multiple paths and completes the covered pedestrian network of the campus, is used as a place for rest and recreation. The Palmetum is noteworthy, a group of royal palms planted like a checkerboard next to the faculty of Economic Sciences, which create a cover using only vegetation.
