In El Paraíso, two squares located in sequence are perceived as one. The triangular Plaza Madariaga, inaugurated for the first centennial of the Declaration of Independence during Juan Vicente Gómez’s government, responds to the original fabric of this urban development and its boundary with Avenida Páez. It is surrounded by buildings like San José de Tarbes School, Santa María University and the military post occupying an old mansion, attesting historical layers. The square, with large tres of different species that make up an imposing mass of vegetation, has an allegorical monument to 19 de Abril, (Milan, 1911) by Italian Emilio Gariboldi. Also an anonymous marble piece (Narcissus) located in a reflecting pool and, to the northwest, a bronze sculpture of an archangel.
