The plaza is part of the redevelopment project of El Silencio, promoted by President Isaias Medina Angarita to clean up the neighborhoods near the center of the city, and give an urban physiognomy to the new social housing areas implemented by Banco Obrero. Located in front of Bloque 7, the square is shady most of the day, and occupies about a third of the block. It has three sides, adjacent to Oeste 8, Baralt and Lecuna Avenues, a slight slope to the south, and lush vegetation with high canopy trees. Its west edge is bordered by the typical arcades and portals of Bloque 7, becoming part of its architecture. This square is one of the various types of public space that Villanueva designed for El Silencio, among which there are commercial corridors, courtyards, some paved squares, and other ones with trees, like this one, opened in 1945.
