In the colonial town of Petare (Historic National Heritage), in front of Plaza Sucre and just opposite the Cathedral stands house number 10, Bárbaro Rivas figurative painter (1893-1967) former home. According to the art critic Francisco de Antonio, the artist born in Petare, «painted unconscious motives seen during night sleep and regu-larly disclosed to illustrate and clarify the doubts of the Christian.» His paintings reflect a deep religious feeling and the atmosphere of Petare, where he always lived. Ramón Paolini for Bigott Foundation rescued the house, a landmark for the community and the memory of the city. The project succeeded in recovering the volumetric perspective and respects the architectural style of the area, removing elements from previous unplanned inter-ventions. Paolini recovers the old courtyard house, combining the ancient, contemporary and historical, resuming construction systems and traditional values, to bring them to the contemporary. With 1,200 square meter area, hosts workshops for music, dance, musical instrument manufacturing; a documentation center, an auditorium and offices. Some of the roofs were rebuilt in a system of peer and knuckles «Mudejar» inheritance, with hand carved oak columns typical of colonial times. The recovery achievement help revitalize Petare, in an effort to praise a building with historical and architectural values. Today is the Bigott Foundation headquarters, whose mission is to promote the popular tradition in Venezuela and spread cultural values.
