According Silvia Lasala, is «the formal reception space» of Ciudad Universitaria, and its main enclosure. Overlooking it is the University Clock, a vertical element counterposing the low volumes of the square, (Otaola and Benedetti). The square, originally a parking lot is the link with the Covered square and acts as a bridge between the Communications and student services building and theMuseum, which delimits the main void. The Communications building, perpendicular to the Rectorate, while the Museum is shifted thirteen degrees from the right angle. The fourth edge is defined by the covered corridor and the Botanical Garden slope. The bronze La Cultura (Narváez, 1905-1982) decorates the square. The museum is a prism on columns and its closed facade exhibits two murals: Untitled (Barrios, 1920-1999) and Static composition-Dynamic composition (Vigas, 1926), both made with glass mosaic. This volume is joined to the Rectorate by an overhang, an access to the lateral gardens. The Communications building is parallelepiped, whose main facade exposes its pillars and beams, with a small adjoining enclosure housing the Federation of University Centers. The Rectorate building closing the plaza is a smooth prismatic volume reticulated on its main facade with four rows of windows.
